For Erik ten Hag, the 2023-24 season was a rollercoaster ride like no other. From being on the brink of being sacked to leading Manchester United to a historic FA Cup triumph, the Dutchman has experienced it all. Despite the ups and downs, Ten Hag remains committed to the club’s project, determined to bring more silverware to Old Trafford.

The Turbulent Season and the FA Cup Triumph

The 2022-23 season was Ten Hag’s first in charge of Manchester United. Despite initial optimism, the season was marked by several setbacks. United suffered their worst-ever Champions League group stage campaign, finishing bottom and crashing out of European competition. A dismal start to the Premier League season, which included six defeats in the first ten matches, meant United struggled to recover, ultimately finishing eighth with a negative goal difference. The fans’ morale hit a new low.

Despite having endured a turbulent season, Ten Hag expressed his eagerness to begin the new campaign on a strong note. When questioned about the upcoming season, the Dutchman said, “I am focussed on the reality. The reality was we had a tough season and I had to plan the squad. I had to prepare pre-season and the season and the decision making – and we are here.

    With unity came forward”.
