As the new season of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is in full swing, it’s time to load up on FPL Team assets, especially from Arsenal, who are facing promoted Leicester and Southampton at home in successive games. This is a run that brings back memories of the 21 goals they scored in four games back in February. For this reason, you’ll want at least one attacking Arsenal player in your line-up if you can.

After a flying start, it’s been two down weeks in a row, with a rather average 57 points from last week’s team. The team of the week has gone for the triple up, with Gunners talisman Bukayo Saka as captain. It’s essential to select the right players for your FPL team, and Saka seems to be a reliable choice. A return every game so far, but he still feels like he has yet to hit top form.

Why captain Saka over Haaland? This is a tricky call, and it’s fine to play things safer with Manchester City’s star man. However, Saka is an upside choice, and it feels like Arsenal will run riot at home to Leicester. With just a few weeks into the new season, it’s essential to analyze the performance of each team and player to make informed decisions about your FPL team.

FPL Team Selection: The Key Players

When it comes to selecting the right players for your FPL team, it’s essential to analyze the performance of each team and player. For this week, we recommend the following players for your FPL team:

  • Mark Flekken, Brentford, keeper, £4.5m – home to West Ham. Flekken has made more saves (28) than any other keeper this season, and West Ham were really poor at home to Chelsea in week five.
  • Gabriel, Arsenal, defender, £6.1m – home to Leicester City. Gabriel is the essential FPL defender, especially at a million less than Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Brazilian is the top-scoring defender and has netted in back-to-back games.
  • Matthijs de Ligt, Manchester United, defender, £5m – home to Spurs. De Ligt has only started three games for United, but he has two clean sheets and a goal. The eye test will tell you he’s regularly getting on the end of corners and his xG last week at Palace was 0.49.

Midfielders to Watch

When it comes to midfielders, we recommend the following players for your FPL team:

  • Bukayo Saka (captain), Arsenal, midfielder, £10m – home to Leicester City. Saka is an upside choice, and it feels like Arsenal will run riot at home to Leicester.
  • Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal, midfielder, £6.9m – home to Leicester City. Martinelli’s FPL stock plummeted last season, but everything is in place for the Brazilian to have a good game and give us a glimpse of 22-23 Martinelli.

Strikers to Consider

When it comes to strikers, we recommend the following players for your FPL team:

  • Erling Haaland, Manchester City, striker, £15.3m – away at Newcastle. Haaland hasn’t let us down this season, and Newcastle’s defensive statistics are worrying.
  • Chris Wood, Nottingham Forest, striker, £6.1m – home to Fulham. Wood is a super consistent FPL pick at the moment, and when he scores, he picks up bonus.

Budget Options to Consider

When it comes to budget options, we recommend the following players for your FPL team:

  • Tyler Dibling, Southampton, midfielder, £4.5m. Dibling looks like another star to emerge from Southampton’s famed academy, and if he carries on starting games, he could be the best option in this price bracket.

FPL Team Selection: The Different approach

While the obvious picks are always a great starting point, it’s essential to think outside the box and find those two or three differentials in among the more obvious picks. For this week, we recommend considering the following players:

  • Luis Diaz, Liverpool, midfielder, £8m – away at Wolves. Diaz is outperforming all of his underlying numbers, and sometimes you just have to roll with it, especially in a team that can’t afford Salah.
  • Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth, midfielder, £5.6m – home to Southampton. Semenyo still tops the charts among all midfielders for shots taken, and Bournemouth could run up a hatful if they can repeat their previous performances.

The Mini-League Update

As we head into week six, it’s essential to keep an eye on the mini-league standings. Chris Sutton currently sits bottom of the Fantasy 606 mini-league, but it’s still early days in the competition.

The Listeners’ Team Update

The listeners’ team has decided to play the wildcard this week, with Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins coming in. They’ve also gone for four cheap defenders and Harry Winks to balance the books.

The Fantasy Premier League season is heating up, and it’s essential to stay on top of your game. With the right FPL team selection, you can climb the ranks and become the ultimate champion. Keep an eye on the latest news, updates, and expert advice to make informed decisions about your FPL team.
