Oktoberfest Protests Bring Unlikely Celebration for Bayern Munich Players Amidst Thrilling Weekend Across Europe’s Leagues

The festivities of Oktoberfest brought an unexpected twist to the world of football this weekend, as Bayern Munich players took to the streets to celebrate amidst a thrilling series of matches across Europe’s top leagues. The likes of Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise, and Mathys Tel donned their lederhosen and joined in the revelry, showcasing the unique spirit of the Oktoberfest celebrations.

Bayern Munich’s Flawless Start

Bayern Munich’s perfect start to the season continued as they thrashed Werder Bremen 5-0 in a crushing display of attacking prowess. Harry Kane marked his name in the record books as he became the top-scoring English player in Bundesliga history. The England captain scored his 41st goal in the competition, surpassing Jadon Sancho as the leading English scorer. Kane’s landmark goal was not the only milestone of the match, as Michael Olise scored a stunning brace to take his tally to five goals in his past three games.

Olise, who joined Bayern in a £50m deal from Crystal Palace, has been in scintillating form, with his performances earning praise from Bayern boss Vincent Kompany. “Michael did very well. He’s a special talent. It’s a luxury at Bayern to have so many good players,” Kompany said after the game. “His start at Bayern couldn’t be much better. He has to keep going this way. I haven’t got the feeling that he’s a player who feels much pressure. He just enjoys football.”

The convincing win for Bayern Munich extends their unbeaten start to the season under Kompany, who has broken a new club record with 29 goals scored in the first six competitive matches.

AC Milan End Inter’s Run

In Italy, AC Milan brought an end to their dismal run of six defeats in the Derby della Madonnina with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over city rivals Inter. Christian Pulisic’s early strike gave Milan the lead, but Inter levelled through Federico Dimarco. However, it was Matteo Gabbia who stole the show as he scored an 89th-minute winner to hand Milan the bragging rights.

The victory marked a symbolic triumph for Gabbia, who grew up as a boyhood AC Milan fan and celebrated the win with his grandfather, a season-ticket holder for over 50 years. Torino, meanwhile, find themselves at the top of Serie A after a thrilling 3-2 win over Hellas Verona.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris St-Germain Maintain their Grip

In Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona continued their dominant start to the season, with both clubs registering convincing wins. Robert Lewandowski score twice in Barcelona’s 5-1 thrashing of Villarreal, as he equalled Jan Urban’s record as the top-scoring Polish player in La Liga history. Kylian Mbappe’s fourth goal in three La Liga games helped Real Madrid to a 4-1 win over Espanyol, as the defending champions extended their unbeaten run in the league.

In France, Paris St-Germain maintained their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season with a 1-1 draw against Reims. Marseille, meanwhile, came from behind to snatch a thrilling 3-2 victory over Lyon, thanks to Jonathan Rowe’s late winner.

Marseille Celebrate Dramatic Comeback

Jonathan Rowe’s late winner marked a memorable moment for Marseille as they fought back from a two-goal deficit to clinch a thrilling 3-2 victory over Lyon. The England Under-21 international, who joined Marseille on loan from Norwich City in August, showed his worth with a well-taken strike that sealed the win for his side.

Rowe’s goal capped off an incredible comeback for Marseille, who now find themselves level on points with Paris St-Germain in the Ligue 1 standings. Monaco and Marseille are two of four teams to remain unbeaten in the French league this season, alongside Reims and Lens.

Borussia Dortmund’s hopes, meanwhile, suffered a setback as they were comprehensively thrashed 5-1 by Stuttgart. Bayer Leverkusen, the current league champions, maintained their grip on second place with a narrow 4-3 win over Wolfsburg, thanks to Victor Boniface’s injury-time winner.

As the Oktoberfest celebrations come to a close, football fans across Europe will eagerly look forward to the next installment of thrilling matches that showcase the very best of European football.
